The AALR exists to give both seasoned and up-and-coming writers room to explore what it means to claim an Asian American identity. Its newest issue turns the spotlight on Mixed Race identity, drawing together a remarkable roster of storytellers from every genre to dig into the Mixed experience. The hardcover journal is just the starting point, however. Across the 2013/2014 fall and spring terms, more than 100 universities will take part in interactive classrooms that use the Mixed Race issue as a jumping-off point for discussion and fresh insight into the Mixed experience.
