Belle follows Dido Elizabeth Belle - the child of an African woman and a British Naval officer in the 18th Century, raised among British Aristocrats and confronting difficulties within her family and society because of her mixed heritage (the film is set for its US release this summer). For her next project, Asante hopes to direct Where Hands Touch - a tale of romance between a mixed woman and a German SS officer in the 1940s.
